Many thanks for your comments and response in regards to my question the other day about a foley catheter. It helped very much. Today, I went to Walgreen's and bought a syringe. I am free to choose how to treat my health condition. Regrading surgery, etc., It helped me realize that this is key: it is what I want and not what my Dr.'s or insurance wants me to do. I've decided not to take the risk of getting ED or retro ejaculation. I forgot to mention that I am on anti-biopics for the next 10 days. An infection set in is why I am taking anti-biotics.
Thanks for the information you have provided on your site, I now have a better picture and knowledge of what's going on in my situation. I decided against any surgery. I believe now that the infection is gone, and my kidneys and bladder and prostate are no longer swollen or painful. I want to try to get by on my own. I will work on my diet, take prostate supplements, etc.
Also, I will ask the doctor to prescribe pre-lubed catheters in case I have to do that for myself. I pray that my Dr.'s and urologist will work with me in my efforts to heal myself Nature's way.
P.S. My urologist replied to my question to him and he says that leaving the catheter in for up to four weeks is okay. Now I think it best that I leave it to him to take care of releasing the fluids from the catheter (though now I feel free that I know how in case I need to myself).

Ron here...
It is not an easy road to take charge of one's health decisions, but for me that is the only path.
Doctors can advise and suggest but their views are only part of the picture.
It may be useful for you to read up on how to use a catheter yourself. You do not need a doctor's prescription to buy lubricated ones. In fact if you contact Coloplast they will send you some free samples to try.
All the best.
